Scenario
In flashbacks, the family joins the cosmic cult promising to save Jupiter. As the past reveals their struggles, their teenage daughter must choose between following her parents in the cult or forging her own path on Earth..
It’s a dizzying landscape and a space that borders on sci-fi, even psychological horror
"Jupiter" is a finely executed film that manages to immerse us in the inner world of a teenage girl, faced not only with the challenges of insecurity, but also with the ordeal of her disabled younger brother and her parents' descent into madness. During a discussion after the film, I was surprised that the first comment was one of empathy towards the parents.
I have even noticed that many adults are beyond help
I had to counter that in the madness and horror of the world, children are tragically and inexplicably ignored. The director insisted that they should be reintegrated into the “good democratic society” and even that their horrible deeds be forgotten (they have good intentions).
Won the YOUNG JURY AWARD at the Sofia Film Festival for a film in the International Competition
Yet his film feels like a dissection of the vulnerability of troubled adults, but an ode to that of children.P. S.
