About 31 minutes in, Rose broke a glass as her alarm went off
Scenario
After witnessing a strange, traumatic incident with a patient, a psychiatrist becomes increasingly convinced that she is being threatened by a strange entity.. A few days before the premiere on September 30, 2022, the cast of the film appeared at various baseball games, sitting behind home plate still and smiling as he stared into the camera, unmoving, though fans in the audience were understandably concerned as he wore Smile T-shirts. Another soon appeared in the background with the crowd during the Today show.. When the cup is shown at her feet, she is wearing stockings. A few seconds later, as she checks the door, she’s wearing lace-up shoes. Based on what happens later at the later party, there are a few continuity issues that may not be "bugs" but it may actually be intentional to show "interruptions" in Rose’s mind/sanity…
Rose Cotter: What are you?
Why are you doing this to me? The Monster: Because your mind is so attractive.. Paramount’s opening and closing logos feature a curved line in the shape of a smile at the base of a mountain. This movie scared the crap out of me and had me on edge from start to finish.
It really gave me chills
I haven’t seen a horror movie this good in a long time. The story is a bit clichéd in places, but well written and well made most of the time. The acting is also great, which is not always a common thing when it comes to horror movies. It is very well directed and the atmosphere is really creepy. The first girl to die in the movie probably had the nastiest smile I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Especially when the therapist started seeing her in the dark as a hallucination.
The pacing of the film was excellent
Then there were smiles that weren’t too scary, like the patient Carl. As the story progressed, it became more sinister. The ending really stuck in my brain and I actually thought I was going to have nightmares that night, which doesn’t happen to me very often. The day after I watched this movie, a car drove past me and the old man driving looked at me and smiled… The only thing I could think about was this movie. This was Parker Finn’s first feature film.
A good start to his writing/directing career
I really hope he makes more movies like this. well done!
